  • It is Saturday evening for me and I have just returned from a funeral for a friend of my husbands that he grew up with.  It has been a very emotional day, Charley was only 46 and full of life.  He had been a very close friend for 30 years and one of the original group that saved my life after I lost my children 5 days before Christmas.  A little story that might help me get through this.

Since the fire occurred on December 20th I knew it was going to be very difficult to get through the first Christmas.  After spending 2 1/2 months in the burn unit and having my body so full of scars it was amazing to have a very special group of people surround me.  One of whom is my current husband, and Charley was one of his best friends.  On the anniversary of the fire I came home from work to find all 9 of those friends at my apartment.  They had gone and bought a Christmas tree with lights and ornaments and were waiting on me to decorate it.  They stayed with me all night....not one of them left.  I can't begin to tell you how that made me feel.  Charley was one of those 9, and he has been in my life every since.  They made my first Christmas after losing my kids one of the most memorable.  I know that because of their love and support on that day it has given me the strength to enjoy the holiday season for every year since.

Thanks to all of Xanga for reading my site and giving me the support that you do.  I have almost reached my 2000 visitor, so if you will let me know who you are I might possibly have a little treat for you
