Doin’ the Friday Happy Dance
I have a story from last Saturday of a little incident that happened after we attended the Life Celebration for our life long friend Charley.
There is this wonderful shop in Rocklin, (about 2 hours) from us and on the way to Reno called Pottery World. They have all sorts of pots
as well as statuary on the outside and wonderful fufu interior designer stuff inside. Well….of course we went to possibly gets some pots for the new deck. Now keep in mind it was about 103 degrees outside so it was HOT. As the 3 of us are walking up and down the isle’s nothing was jumping out and saying buy me! Until we were on the last row of pots. I like different things….well, towards the end of the row there was 2 pots sitting on top of each other and all the way in the back. The rest of the rack was empty…they had sold all the others. These pots were very different for terra cotta, they were from Vietnam. They kind of resembled an urn, and had the raised impression of an olive branch. They were pretty good size pots and were $30 a piece. I had my husband reach over and pull the one down that was on top, they were about 2 ft tall. We examined it and it was fine, no cracks. So I asked him to pull down the other one so we could examine it as well. I need to mention here, as we were examining the first pot a guy (I will not call him a gentleman) walked by, looked and us and walked around to the other side. I did not see him or what he was doing, but we had encountered him and his wife a few isle’s back. She was bitching and complaining that it was too hot and that she wanted to leave. Well…after my husband pulled down the 2nd pot and we examined it, he left me with the pots (remember I said there was only 2) so he could go get a cart to load them on. While I’m standing there up comes this couple. The guy looks and me and says your standing next to my pots!! I said I don’t think so, my husband has just gone to get a cart for these. You did not pull them down or have anyone watching these pots. His wife from the rear holding a piece of paper in the air and yelling out “I have a receipt, I paid for those pots”. I couldn’t believe it….I told them that possession is 9/10 of the law and I was the one that pulled the pots down, checked them for damage and that they should go get their money back because they were mine!
At that point I had to listen to the wife begin to scream that those pots were hers, that she had a receipt for them. At that point she yelled at her husband to pick them up and place them on the cart because she had a receipt for them and they were hers.
Well….they had about a 3 to 4 year old child with them and I was not going to stoop to their level and become a raving lunatic in front of this child. I walked away. It was tough believe me, I don’t know how people can be so obnoxious and inconsiderate. If they had looked at the pots they would not have put them back on the shelf the way they were.
I went and asked a salesperson if there were more pots…I was told NO, special shipment in from Vietnam….don’t usually get those and not sure they have any more. They called their other store, if they have some they are 6 to 7 pallets deep and they will not get through them until sometime this week. Haven’t heard from them yet!!! Guess I wasn’t destined to own those pots but they sure would have looked good on my deck.
Everyone have a great weekend.

I swear I have encountered some of the rudest people on the planet, these 2 must be related!! You were a real GENTLEWOMAN to let them just go ahead & have them….I tend to believe in Karma & the “what goes around comes around” attitude…I strongly believe that there is a special place in Hell for people like that!!
You know, there is this huge place in Tijuana that has all kinds of pots, glassware, ironworks & stained glass!! Maybe when you guys come to visit we will all go there!! I got some additional Margarita glass there…I have the Margarita & the martini glasses..I got the Margarita ones w/pitcher at Cost Plus in San Francisco & the martini ones at Tijuana…come on down & we’ll just shop till we drop…or run out of $$, LOL!! Plus, Joe can make us some of his world famous margaritas, & we’ll sit on the Patio with the Tiki lights going & the waterfall falling…it will be so perfect!! Open invitation any time!!

OMG!! Can you believe some people!! I would have been so mad! You did the right thing. I wanted to tell you before I forget that you can get black and/or green tea just about any where. I get mine at walmart. Just look in the coffee area. Lipton does make green and black.
Some people – ~shaking my head~ that was an awful experience for you both ~hugs~
I just hope if you do get some from this other store – that they are in even better condition that the ones you saw.
Hey – its not long now till your trip is it?… Have a great weekend there.
*gasp* Can you believe the nerve of some people? *shaking head* I don’t know what I would have done. Maybe I wouldn’t have been quite as nice as you were… I don’t know.
Go out to visit Cathy….. she sounds like she will hook you up with pottery that you would be happy with plus Joe will make you a margarita or two.. now how can you turn THAT down?!

AND that lady sure was rude, I’m sure it was hot but thats no excuse for being rude geesh!!
Yikes, never knew there were such potstealers in our world
Sorry for your loss, maybe they were bad luck anyway. Glad you were the better person not to argue in front of their child, apparantly they didn’t mind doing ti.
Thanks for coming to my shower, what a suprise it was
Don’t worry you’ll find something better. Besides those particular ones were cursed –that’s why they ended up with the BOORISH couple. (They will topple over and hurt one of ‘em! by next month!!!)
Hey thanks for subscribing to my site!
How rude!! Some people are just so inconsiderate!!!
Drinks and snackies on your deck… I’m there ROTF *WINK*
Sheesh, the nerve of some people! But you were the much better person for not behaving like them and just walking away. I bet you find better ones and forget all about those silly Vietnam pots.
{{{Hugs!}}}
Damn that couple. That is … a couple of self righteous idiots!! I would have fought to the death of one of us! Well, maybe not since a child was present. I can’t believe parents would act like that. Imagine what they will grow up to be and the parents will probably blame society when they start having issues. Some people need to wakeup and see the other sides of situations. Hopefully you’ll find them again. Doesn’t it make you so mad when you have your heart set on something only for it to be taken away? Yeah, me too!
Oh I hate nasty people like that. I think that is rotten as heck. Have been around people just like that and reacted the same way. However since I have been taking estrogen, when I go off it every so often due to lack of interest in meds, I get nasty. God help those people if I am off my meds. Have a great day and a better tomorrow! ! ! ! ! I hope you get those pots. Love and hugs! ! ! ! !
Great blog. Thanks for stopping by my site.
Wow – what a great example for that child! I swear – I am really becoming the kind of person that hates most other people I think
Anyway, thanks for subbing to my site! I look forward to reading lots more from you
