  • Well....the good news is....that I can get around not having to format the hard drive.  But the bad news is I have to buy another hard drive, format it with XP, pull off the stuff I need from the other drive and then format it.  A little trouble some and time consuming huh?  This PC is 16 months old....do I just bite the bullet and get a new one and not mess with this? or go ahead and buy a new hard drive?  We usually replace our PC's every 2 years and not to say this is a old one or for that matter a bad one.  Was working fine until I downloaded  the XP service pack 1.  It's a 1.7 Ghz with a Pentium 4, a burner, a DVD and the 40 gig hard drive.  Of course it has a few other bells and whistles but you get the picture.  Any suggestions out there?  I'm not sure which way I should go.  HELP!  I'm at work and will need to make this short.

Hope everyone had a good weekend, catch you all soon.  I'll check back later for any suggestions on what you think I should do.

  • This is a ho hum me.....my home PC has crashed.  I have XP and have been running it for a year with no problems.  Like a goof I downloaded the new service pack 1 last weekend, been having troubles ever since.  I knew I should have backed it out but didn't   So when I got up Friday morning and tried to logon it would not come up.  So I need to re-format my hard drive and start all over again   Sure is going to be a mess cause I had stuff on the hard drive I didn't want to lose.  Oh well.....

I brought home my laptop from work so I could at least put a note on Xanga.  I'll try to check in occasionally but it will be a little hard difficult to visit everyone's site at work.  But I'll miss you all

Hope everyone is having a great weekend and hopefully I'll be back real soon.

  • Since everyone seems to be taking the geek test I thought I would give it a try.  Not sure I appreciate the response

We made it through Hump Day...now it's a down hill slide.

    You are 10% geek
OK, so maybe you ain't a geek. You do, at least, show a bit of interest in the world around you. Either that, or you have enough of a sense of humor to pick some of the sillier answers on the test. Regardless, you're probably a pretty nifty, well-rounded person who gets along fine with people and can chat with just about anyone without fear of looking stupid or foolish or overly concerned with minutiae. God, I hate you.

  • Not doing the happy dance anymore.  Had a phone call from Pottery World today and the other store did not have any of the pots  and they will not be getting any more in.  Since they were a specialties item the manager was not even sure they would get any next year, around the April time frame.  So...gotta look for some more pots!

We did get a couple of things potted Sunday after I returned from the Harvest Festival.  So I will include a couple of shots.  Since we are beginning the fall season we won't be able to do much more or for that matter be able to buy much more.

I know it's hard to tell but this is a Windmill palm inside the wine barrel.  I've also planted some patches of Baby Tears to fill it and hopefully trail down the sides.

This is just a simple jade plant but we have had it for about 20 years.  It keeps breaking off and re-growing.  So maybe since I re-potted in a larger pot it will get bigger.  I went back and bought the statue of the little boy, this is not the greatest shot but due to time of day this was the best I could get.

This is a frog I couldn't resist at the Harvest Festival.  Not sure if you can see it very well or not.  I took several shots but it was not cooperating very much.

Obviously this is a distance shot.

Any suggestions on some other types of plants I can get.  That is an asparagus fern on the table (not it's final resting place).  I know it's going to take some time but I sure would like to just twitch my nose and have it magically appear all done!

  • Doin' the Friday Happy Dance

I have a story from last Saturday of a little incident that happened after we attended the Life Celebration for our life long friend Charley.

There is this wonderful shop in Rocklin, (about 2 hours) from us and on the way to Reno called Pottery World.  They have all sorts of pots  as well as statuary on the outside and wonderful fufu interior designer stuff inside.  Well....of course we went to possibly gets some pots for the new deck.  Now keep in mind it was about 103 degrees outside so it was HOT.  As the 3 of us are walking up and down the isle's nothing was jumping out and saying buy me!  Until we were on the last row of pots.  I like different things....well, towards the end of the row there was 2 pots sitting on top of each other and all the way in the back.  The rest of the rack was empty...they had sold all the others.  These pots were very different for terra cotta, they were from Vietnam.  They kind of resembled an urn, and had the raised impression of an olive branch.  They were pretty good size pots and were $30 a piece.  I had my husband reach over and pull the one down that was on top, they were about 2 ft tall.  We examined it and it was fine, no cracks.  So I asked him to pull down the other one so we could examine it as well.  I need to mention here, as we were examining the first pot a guy (I will not call him a gentleman) walked by, looked and us and walked around to the other side.  I did not see him or what he was doing, but we had encountered him and his wife a few isle's back.  She was bitching and complaining that it was too hot and that she wanted to leave.  Well...after my husband pulled down the 2nd pot and we examined it, he left me with the pots (remember I said there was only 2) so he could go get a cart to load them on.  While I'm standing there up comes this couple.  The guy looks and me and says your standing next to my pots!!  I said I don't think so, my husband has just gone to get a cart for these.  You did not pull them down or have anyone watching these pots.  His wife from the rear holding a piece of paper in the air and yelling out "I have a receipt, I paid for those pots".  I couldn't believe it....I told them that possession is 9/10 of the law and I was the one that pulled the pots down, checked them for damage and that they should go get their money back because they were mine!

At that point I had to listen to the wife begin to scream that those pots were hers, that she had a receipt for them.  At that point she yelled at her husband to pick them up and place them on the cart because she had a receipt for them and they were hers.

Well....they had about a 3 to 4 year old child with them and I was not going to stoop to their level and become a raving lunatic in front of this child.  I walked away.  It was tough believe me, I don't know how people can be so obnoxious and inconsiderate.  If they had looked at the pots they would not have put them back on the shelf the way they were.

I went and asked a salesperson if there were more pots...I was told NO, special shipment in from Vietnam....don't usually get those and not sure they have any more.  They called their other store, if they have some they are 6 to 7 pallets deep and they will not get through them until sometime this week.  Haven't heard from them yet!!!  Guess I wasn't destined to own those pots but they sure would have looked good on my deck.

    Everyone have a great weekend.

  • Geeezzzz....I didn't know that putting the Thompson's Wood Sealer would be so hard.  My arm, shoulder and back are killing me.  We finally finished the railing tonight.  Still have the deck and the wood around the bottom to do, hopefully that will be much easier.  As my husband and I were starting to do the railing, we had just begun when he looked at me and said "and you had to have this damn railing didn't ya?"  You know I just kept my mouth shut and kept on brushing the stuff on

We are going to the Renaissance Pleasure Faire on Saturday.  Hopefully I'll take some pictures of all the wenches and post some.  Depending on how many dress for the faire this year.  We always have such a good time eating, drinking and watching all the people   This is a picture from last year, that's me on the right and a long time friend on the left.

Hump day is almost over and tomorrow is my Friday this week.  This is my 3 day weekend.

Well....would you believe that my 2000th visitor was Wickgal, and look at the great graphic that Lisa designed.  Thank you so much I really appreciate it Lisa.

Hope you like it as much as I do Donna.

  • It is Saturday evening for me and I have just returned from a funeral for a friend of my husbands that he grew up with.  It has been a very emotional day, Charley was only 46 and full of life.  He had been a very close friend for 30 years and one of the original group that saved my life after I lost my children 5 days before Christmas.  A little story that might help me get through this.

Since the fire occurred on December 20th I knew it was going to be very difficult to get through the first Christmas.  After spending 2 1/2 months in the burn unit and having my body so full of scars it was amazing to have a very special group of people surround me.  One of whom is my current husband, and Charley was one of his best friends.  On the anniversary of the fire I came home from work to find all 9 of those friends at my apartment.  They had gone and bought a Christmas tree with lights and ornaments and were waiting on me to decorate it.  They stayed with me all night....not one of them left.  I can't begin to tell you how that made me feel.  Charley was one of those 9, and he has been in my life every since.  They made my first Christmas after losing my kids one of the most memorable.  I know that because of their love and support on that day it has given me the strength to enjoy the holiday season for every year since.

Thanks to all of Xanga for reading my site and giving me the support that you do.  I have almost reached my 2000 visitor, so if you will let me know who you are I might possibly have a little treat for you

  • Hey Everyone....hope your hump day has been as good as mine   I've been working from home today and wouldn't you know it, the hubby came home early.  Today that was a good thing.   Sunday a friend and I had taken a trip over to The Barrel Shop and they were closed   So....I played a little hooky today and we went over there.  It is in American Canyon and they sell items made from wine barrels, some pretty cute stuff.  If you'd like to take a look the address is www.thebarrelshop.com   I just picked up 2 half barrels to plant for the deck.  I sure want to go back and pick up either the Two Stage Fountain or Three Stage Fountain for the backyard (can't make up my mind).  My hubby keeps my spending under control with one word "Australia".  So when we get back (November 9th) I'm heading over to the Barrel Shop   As soon as I get the wine barrel's planted I'll take some pictures and post 'em.

If everyone could please say a prayer for a very dear friend of mine, her name is Gina.  She is having gallbladder surgery today.  She has been pretty ill for the last year and finally gave up and went to the ER on Saturday.  They did an ultra sound and discovered she has lots of gallstones.  Not a fun surgery, my husband had it about 3 years ago.  Thanks so much in advance, I'm sure she will appreciate it.  (No she doesn't have a Xanga site yet, she says she will as soon as she gets over this hump, she loves reading mine ).

Sorry if I haven't been making the rounds to everyone's site lately.  It's been sorta work overload.  Way to much work and not enough bodies to go around.  I'll get back on track soon
